After a fabulous week it was time to head back to New Mexico!
We rode rides at Hogwarts, the Mummy, Shrek, Jurassic park, and the Simpsons.

We started with a studio tour.  The property if on 400 acres.  They have many sound stages and outdoor filming sets.  We viewed a few of the special effects they did on the property including floods and fires.
Barrow was ready to record the day!
Our final day - we headed to Universal studios!

After dinner, the music turned up and everyone danced on the upper deck.
We passed several beautiful homes, a few small islands, and a family of seals!
Everyone dressed up and boarded a yacht for an evening meal and dancing.  A great way to end the day!  We passed by the Queen Mary as we left the dock.  This ship delivered mail from Europe to the US.

At the end of the tour, we enjoyed seeing the set of Friends and 2 & 1/2 men, as well as additional displays put together by experts in the film industry.
We were able to see items used in the Harry Potter films.  The sorting hat picked Hufflepuff for Barrow!
We toured the outdoor filming areas first, then went inside the sound stage of the Big Bang Theory TV show.

While our team did not win, we enjoyed the show!
Warner Brothers is located on 110 acres - with many sounds stages, and outdoor filming areas.
We had lunch - then headed to Warner Brothers for a tour.

They also did a class on improve, learned important points about directing movies, and took a tour of the school.
They attended a workshop on filming.  Barrow and Lowell gave a newscast.
1st stop - New York Film Academy.
After about 7 hours of sleep - we were up for day 3

Tuesday, May 3, 2016

We ended our evening at Medieval Times - dinner theater.
The streets were filled with stars of famous people.
We were reminded of movies and actors that we loved!
Everyone enjoyed the Guinness Book of World Records and the Wax Museum.

We also saw enjoyed the beautiful gardens and enjoyed the sculptures along the grounds.
We saw portraits by famous artists, and well as some modern photography.
After a small fender bender with the bus and a car, we stopped at In and Out Burger, had lunch, and headed to the Getty Museum.  There we enjoyed viewing the art, the building itself and the wonderful views.
Eight hours later, we were up...we showered and dressed and headed for breakfast at Denny's.
We walked along the Santa Monica pier, had dinner and the food court, then headed to our hotel...happy to see a bed!
After drying off, Barrow enjoyed a game of volleyball with friends.

The water was very cold - but the kids had a great time!
After lunch we crossed over to the beach!
Time to head to the beach.  Lunch along Ocean Boulevard.
We toured the Robert Zemeckis center - viewing rooms where student film their movies.
His 3rd lesson was technology changes but our desire to tell a story never changes.
His final lesson was Reality ends here.
Words along the wall of the building - were written in Latin - and said - You are at the edge of everything.
It was a very interesting tour of the University.
Mar's first word of advice...Art makes us human.
His 2nd word of advice...Give back to education - as you can see Steven Spielberg did for USC.

May 1st, we left Sierra Middle School at 7pm, heading to Los Angeles California.  After sleeping on the bus, we unloaded at the University of Southern California. Mar was an excellent tour guide of the School of Cinematography.
Barrow's team took a solid 1st place in the competition!!
Success!!  Sierra teams did a fabulous job at the knowledge bowl competition!
Barrow successfully completed Order of the Arrow initiation!
